Care Data

your care data

The care.data programme

The care.data programme was established by NHS England and the Health and Social Care Information Centre to securely bring together health and social care information from different healthcare settings, such as GP practices, hospitals and care homes, in order to see what’s working really well in the NHS – and what we could be doing better.

Programme update

Dame Fiona, the National Data Guardian for Health and Care, has now published her review of data security and consent.

In her review, Dame Fiona recommended the Government consider the future of the care.data programme, as the consent and opt-out model proposed by the review goes further than the approach that was planned for care.data and its pathfinder areas.

In light of these recommendations, NHS England has taken the decision to close the care.data programme.
