March 2nd 2021 Update
We are taking a lot of calls at the moment from patients about the Covid-19 vaccination, eligibility and when patients can expect to be vaccinated. We completely understand that patients are keen to get their vaccinations but would like to reiterate that we will text, telephone or write to patients when we are able to book them in for a vaccination.
We have so far invited patients from 65 upwards for their first vaccination and are currently working through our Cohort 6 patients aged 16-64 with underlying health conditions and carers. We will continue to invite patients to receive the vaccine in the priority order set out by the government and based on vaccine availability.
Patients may also receive a national NHS letter inviting them to make an appointment at a large vaccination site (e.g. Bath Racecourse). You are able to do this but you may also wish to wait until you receive an invitation from us inviting you to an appointment at Cirencester Hospital. Please be patient as we are working through our patient list as quickly as vaccine supply allows and if you are within the cohort we are inviting, we will have your details on our patient list.
We are also now starting to invite patients who had their first vaccination between the 21st and 24th December for their second vaccination at Cirencester Hospital. Patients will receive the same vaccine type for their second dose as they were given for their first.
We expect this 11 week timescale to continue for all patients who have had their first Covid vaccination so patients who received their vaccination after those dates can expect to be contacted in due course for their second dose appointment as we receive confirmation on the vaccine arrangements.
January 27th 2021 Update
Working together with GP surgeries across the South Cotswolds, we are well underway now in vaccinating our local patients against coronavirus as part of the biggest immunisation programme in NHS history.
We are working through our patient list in line with the national prioritisation guidance and will invite you to attend for a vaccination as soon as we are able to.
We have given a first vaccination to the majority of our patients aged over 75 as well as care home patients. We are currently working to vaccinate our housebound as well as those aged 70-74 or who are clinically extremely vulnerable – if you are in this group of people, we will be contacting you as soon as we are able to book you in for a vaccination so please wait for us to contact you.
You could be invited to an appointment with us by telephone, letter or text. If you are invited by text, we are using a new booking system which will enable patients to book their own Covid vaccination appointment via ‘Accubook’. The message will invite you to click a link and will offer appointment slots to choose from at Cirencester Hospital. The text will only ask patients to confirm their date of birth and if you are in any doubt, you can call the Practice to check. Texts from the Practice will never ask for your bank details, password information or payment for the vaccination.
Please do not worry if you do not have a mobile or smartphone or do not respond in this way. We will be contacting any patients that do not respond or that do not have a mobile number on their record via phone or letter to book/confirm your appointment.
Please act on your invitation when it arrives and make sure to attend your appointment when you arrange it. Please also continue to follow the national guidance on social distancing and hand hygiene to control the virus and save lives.
If you have had your first vaccination we will be in touch to arrange a date for the second appointment when we have details of the arrangements, and this will be up to 12 weeks after the first vaccination.
