Doctors availability

Urgent / same day appointments

We strive to see all urgent appointments on the same day. Please try to phone the practice between 8:30am and 9:30am for an urgent/same day appointment.

Telephone advice

It is not always necessary to attend the surgery as the doctor or nurse may be able to help you over the phone. If you require telephone advice, please call 01285 831 257.

If a doctor or nurse is not available when you call, the receptionist will arrange for you to be called later that day. Please try to call early in the morning if possible.

Improved access service

The following practices are participating in a pilot scheme to offer seven day access for a GP appointment across the South Cotswolds.

This means appointments may be offered at the following locations outside normal working hours. These appointments can be booked through the practice.

Clinic locations

  • Cirencester Health Group (Avenue and St Peter’s Road)
  • Hilary Cottage Surgery
  • Phoenix Health Group (Phoenix Surgery and Romney House, Tetbury)
  • Rendcomb Surgery
  • Upper Thames Medical Group (Park Surgery and Lechlade)

These appointments are pre-bookable, but please note there is no phone access to the surgery after 6:30pm, Monday to Friday or at weekends when the countywide out of hours service takes over.

Rendcomb Surgery will be open for pre-booked appointments during the following hours:

  • Monday evening Diabetic Clinic, 6:30pm to 8pm

NHS 111 online is for people aged 5 and over. Call 111 if you need help for a child under 5.

Call 999 in a medical or mental health emergency. This is when someone is seriously ill or injured and their life is at risk.

If you need help with your appointment

Please tell us:

  • if there’s a specific doctor, nurse or other health professional you would prefer to respond
  • if you would prefer to consult with the doctor or nurse by phone, face-to-face, by video call or by text or email
  • if you need an interpreter
  • if you have any other access or communication needs

Home visits

If possible please try to call reception on 01285 831 257 before 10am if you require a home visit.

A doctor or nurse may phone you back as it may be that your problem can be dealt with by phone advice. It may be more appropriate to send a nurse, or arrange a hospital attendance.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the surgery.
